LEIGH coach Neil Jukes and captain Micky Higham are among the contenders for the major prizes at this year's Kingstone Press Championship and League One awards night.

Jukes, who stepped up from assistant at the Centurions when Paul Rowley departed just days before the start of the season, has been nominated for Coach of the Year alongside veteran Batley Bulldogs boss John Kear and London Broncos' Andrew Henderson.

All three led their sides into the Middle 8 Qualifiers, where Leigh now look poised to gain promotion to the Super League.

After an opening day defeat away to Kear's Batley in Jukes' first game in charge, the Centurions went unbeaten for the remainder of the regular season and secured the Championship league leaders' shield. …
