County Commission to Consider Funds for Sidewalk Replacement at Expocentre

Marred, cracked and flaking sidewalks at the Kansas Expocentre may soon be replaced.

The Shawnee County Commission will consider approving nearly $23,000 to replace sidewalks near Landon Arena. That item is among others on the agenda Thursday, when commissioners Kevin Cook, Shelly Buhler and Bob Archer meet at 9 a.m. in Room B-11 of the Shawnee County Courthouse, 200 S.E. 7th.

More than 4,000 square feet of sidewalk at the Expocentre needs to replaced soon, general manager Jeff Chabon told the commission in a memo. Sidewalks are crumbling near wheelchair access ramps.

The project will focus on sidewalks in front of the box office and the northeast entrance at a total cost of $22,800.

The commission will also consider an annual resolution attaching delinquent sewer service fees to property tax payments. …
