CITY have their first chance to play over Pounds 70m of new talent against United in the derby.

The Blues have had Germany internationals Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane training for a fortnight, while goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has now joined the rest of the squad and could also make his debut.

Gundogan was Pep Guardiola's prime summer target, as he wanted a player who could take Yaya Toure's mantle as the midfield kingpin.

But he was recovering from a dislocated kneecap when he signed, for around Pounds 20m, and instantly targeted the derby for his first match in sky blue.

After five months out, it is likely that Gundogan will be on the bench, at most, but Guardiola has a long history of pulling off the unexpected in big games, so it would be no great surprise if he started. …
