Putnam Teens Participate in Entrepreneurship Summit

Teenagers from 21 West Virginia counties, including Putnam, participated in the 39th annual Entrepreneurship Summit at the Horseshoe Leadership Center recently in St. George, Tucker County, focusing on creating, sustaining and leading a successful business. Destiny Harrison and Frankie Delapas were the Putnam County participants.

Entrepreneurial skills are crucial for today's workforce. According to the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 28 million small businesses in the United States, employing about 56.1 million of the nation's private-sector workforce.

During the week, students participated in a simulated-business model where teens formed companies with actual products that could be sold online and in a brick-and-mortar store, prepared budgets and planned marketing and media campaigns. …
