The comic strip "Blondie" makes its debut. The artist, Murat Bernard "Chic" Young, grew up in St. Louis and attended McKinley High School.

AVIATION CAREERS

St. Louis Downtown Airport hosts the Legacy Flight Academy on Saturday for a program aimed at fostering an interest in aerospace careers among minority youth. Spots are still available. The program is free and open to minority youth ages 10-19 on the date of the event, but RSPV's and parental permission are required.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will take a short flight. People from aviation professions will lead discussions on academic college preparation and career opportunities in the military and civilian industry. Lunch is included.
