Community Colleges Reach out to ITT Students Two Other Pa. For-Profit Schools Have Also Closed

Pittsburgh-area residents who attended ITT Technical Institute, only to see it abruptly shuttered Tuesday, aren't the only students in Pennsylvania whose studies have been interrupted by the closure of a for-profit school.

Cambria-Rowe Business College and DuBois Business College also have announced closings this summer, meaning a total of 13 Pennsylvania campuses will be idled, counting those two schools and ITT, officials said.

On Friday, a group representing community colleges across the Commonwealth detailed efforts underway at member schools to assist students from those three institutions.

The statement by the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges comes a day after Community College of Allegheny County announced a series of information sessions aimed at helping ITT students in the Pittsburgh area finish their education at CCAC.

The commission said several of its member schools, including those in Beaver, Butler and Westmoreland counties, have begun reaching out and are working with state and federal regulators trying to help students identify their best options for completing their studies at another school. …
