Paterson Police Employee, Guilty in Heroin Scheme, to Get Probation

A records clerk at the Paterson Police Department admitted on Friday that she was in possession of heroin with intent to sell it.

Brunilda Garcia, 42, pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Paterson to a third-degree charge of drug possession with intent to distribute.

She said at the hearing that she possessed six bricks of heroin - - or about 300 glassine packets -- just before her arrest on June 10 at her home in Paterson.

Garcia faces up to five years of probation when she is sentenced in December.

As part of her plea agreement, she also agreed to forfeit $1,800 that was seized by police from her home on 12th Avenue at the time of her arrest.

Authorities said that Garcia, a civilian employee of the city's police department who had previously worked as a dispatcher, was selling heroin out of her 12th Avenue home. …
