Park Ridge Remembers Those It Lost

PARK RIDGE -- About 300 people mourned the seven borough residents killed on Sept. 11, 2001, in a candlelit ceremony Sunday evening, where town leaders implored the next generation to continue to honor the lives lost on that terrible day.

"None of you were present 15 years ago," American Legion Post 153 Cmdr. Dick Bozzone said to the Girl and Boy Scouts who lined Veterans' Park for the ceremony, "so we ask you, in the future when we're gone" to remember the victims and support the United States.

During the ceremony, candles were lit and the crowd sang "America the Beautiful" in honor of the men lost in the attacks: Paul Beatini, Joseph Keller, Ron Magnuson, Joseph Maio, Paul Rizza, Scott Vasel and Martin Wortley.

Keller's family spoke briefly, holding each other and their candles and wiping away tears. …
