ALBERT'S Schloss has cracked the opening keg on its first Oktoberfest.

The Peter Street bier haus and bar has imported five small batch Bavarian brews to launch its inaugural beer festival - all of which are usually exclusively stocked at Munich's world famous Oktoberfest.

And the beers aren't the only tradition Albert's Schloss has imported. In Munich, it is traditional for the lord mayor to kick- off the event by tapping the first barrel - and Manchester's lord mayor, Carl Austin-Behan, did just that with some drama as beer burst from the barrel.

Special drinks come from Bohemia brewers Spaten, Hacker Pschorr, Lowenbrau, Paulaner, and Hofbrau, and they'll all be exclusively available at Albert's Schloss until October 9. The opening party was classic Schloss style, with actors in traditional lederhosen and a brass band playing German anthems and pop cover versions. …
