Center to Honor 5 Local Leaders ; 'Peace Party' to Take Place on Thursday

Five people who have contributed to the peacefulness and well- being of the Topeka community will be honored for their service during a special program this coming week.

The fourth annual Peace Party, sponsored by the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

Honorees will include:

- Barry Feaker, executive director of the Topeka Rescue Mission, who has served the homeless in the capital city for more than 30 years and also has spearheaded other efforts to improve the lives of people living in poverty.

- Ron and Larita Owens, members of the Islamic Center of Topeka, who have volunteered weekly for more than 20 years at the Topeka Correctional Facility. …
