Accelerant Indicated in Lawrence Fatal Fire Arson Suspected after 3 Siblings Die

A suspected arson that killed three brothers in their Lawrence County home started in multiple places in the residence, and a specially trained dog found indications that an accelerant might have been used, Pennsylvania State Police said Friday.

Autopsies were supposed to have been performed Thursday night on the Fombelle brothers, but no results had been released. The Lawrence County coroner could not be reached for comment.

Trooper Luke Nelson, deputy fire marshal of the state police's New Castle barracks, said a lab would have to determine whether any evidence collected following the dog's alert did indeed reveal an accelerant.

Richard Alan Fombelle, 57, Robert Paul Fombelle, 56, and Daniel L. Fombelle, 50, died in the fire at 707 Circle Drive in Shenango Township, just south of New Castle.
