Missouri Botanical Garden Announces Summer 2017 Exhibit: Garden of Glass

The Missouri Botanical Garden will bring another colorful, fragile exhibit to its grounds next summer, garden officials announced Thursday.

"Garden of Glass: The Art of Craig Mitchell Smith" debuts May 13 and will be at the garden until Aug. 13.

It will be the world's largest kiln-fired glass exhibit to date, according to garden officials, and will feature 30 displays specifically made for the garden here.

"Smith is known for his custom kiln-fired technique and style," according to the garden's announcement. "He uses fusing, texturing, slumping and cold-working to create his pieces."

Most of the displays will be in the Climatron with other pieces on other parts on the grounds; another will be at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Chesterfield. …
