Vigil Commemorates Vietnam War's Pow/mias 'A Time to Reflect, to Remember. If We Don't Remember, Who's Going to Remember?'

A small group of veterans concluded a solemn vigil Sunday at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum in Oakland.

The annual POW-MIA vigil was organized by the Vietnam Veterans Inc. of Pittsburgh and coincides with the National POW/MIA Recognition Day to honor those who were prisoners of war and who are still missing in action.

"It's a time to reflect, to remember," said Robert "Butchie" Burke, the group's vice president. "If we don't remember, who's going to remember? These are our brothers, cousins, uncles, friends."

About 200 people attended the two-day event, said Mr. Burke, who spoke before the vigil concluded with the strains of a lone bugler playing taps.

"It's something that we need people to remember, not to forget," said William Aronson of Stanton Heights, a Vietnam War veteran. …
