PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP ; Winfield Boys Top Nitro 2-0; GW Improves to 12-0

Zack Strong made four stops in goal to earn the shutout as Winfield blanked host Nitro 2-0 Tuesday to remain undefeated Tuesday in boys prep soccer. Chase McVey and Hayden O'Dell scored for the Generals (11-0) and Parker Devlin added an assist. Christian Legg made nine saves for Nitro (7-1-2), which lost for the first time this season.

George Washington 3, Woodrow Wilson 1: Kaleb Crede, Ahmed Mohamed and Chance Anderson all scored at Trace Fork for the unbeaten host Patriots (12-0). Tyler Miller had the goal for the Flying Eagles (7- 5). Cooper Zent stopped two shots for GW, and Woodrow keeper Josh Sisk had seven saves.

Huntington 1, St. Albans 0: Trace Prout scored just three minutes into the second half to help Huntington defeat host St. Albans. Noah Haikal had 10 saves for the Highlanders, while Jacob Sayre led the Red Dragons (6-2-1) with four stops.

South Charleston 2, Sissonville 2: Isiah Orcutt and Tre Tuttle each scored in the second half as South Charleston and Sissonville played to a tie. Wyatt Ervin and Gabe Kiser scored for the Indians.

Ripley 3, Riverside 1: Austin Young and Chris Neil combined for 21 saves as Ripley outlasted host Riverside. Kai Greeley-Fay, Sam Pierson and Gage Williams each tallied a goal for the Vikings (8-3- 1). Brett Murray led the Warriors (3-8-1) with a score and Noah Underwood picked up 16 saves.

Hurricane 3, Spring Valley 0: Ryan Fisher found the back of the net twice to help Hurricane pick up a home victory. Colton Jones tallied a goal and Alik Assi added an assist for the Redskins (8-2- 1). Alex Ware made eight saves for the Timberwolves (3-6-1).

Herbert Hoover 4, St. Marys 0: Ethan Knight made four saves in earning his eighth shutout of the season in the Huskies' road win. Kody McGraw scored twice for Hoover (9-1-2) and Isaac Deel and Stephen Watkins scored a goal each. Cameron Frame stopped 20 shots for St. Marys (2-9).

Charleston Catholic 3, Williamstown 0: Three different Irish players scored and Ethan Malinoski made it hold up in the shutout home win. Malinoski collected five saves and Jack Cimino, Phillip Acklin and Luke McKown scored for Catholic (4-3-4). Joseph James had eight saves for Williamstown (9-2). …
