Saddle Brook Administrator Says He'll Retire March 31

SADDLE RIVER -- Borough Administrator Les Shenkler has announced his retirement, effective March 31, after serving on a part-time basis since June 2014.

Shenkler, who said he became a permanent part-time employee in December, added: "I'm leaving to do some traveling and maybe some consulting if I want to. I will truly miss Saddle River residents and those I worked so close with. It's a wonderful town."

Mayor Albert Kurpis announced the borough administrator's departure at Monday's mayor and council meeting. The mayor stressed that the situation is amicable, citing Shenkler's desire to travel.

"We're looking for someone who can be here on a full-time basis," Kurpis said, praising Shenkler's work with the borough.

Shenkler said he was paid on an hourly basis and made around $110,000 a year. …
