Rob Makes a Painful Start to Life at Sale

AS far as starts go, Rob Webber's has been a painful one at Sale.

Having signed for Sharks on a two-year contract during the close season, the England hooker broke his arm just 30 minutes into his Premiership debut with the club against Newcastle Falcons.

Now, after undergoing an operation to have a plate and screws inserted to help the arm mend, he faces a 10-week recovery period.

But Webber, who has also played for Bath, Wasps and Leeds Carnegie, still has a positive outlook on his move to the AJ Bell Stadium, and says he is already feeling right at home.

"My arm collided with someone's head and I managed to fracture my radius clean in two," revealed Webber, who has been capped 16 times by England.

"I had an operation to put a plate and some screws in and that went successfully.

"I'm now looking at about a 10-week lay-off so I hope to be back sometime in November.

"The first two weeks it's about letting the body heal.

"Once that initial period is done you still have to work hard when you're injured - you have to do rehab, fitness, and then you also do weights in the gym with the bits of the body that aren't injured. …
