This upcoming election should not be about personalities but about American principles. Likeablility is not the issue. James Madison, our fourth president, was short and serious, with a high-pitched voice, yet he wrote most of one of the greatest documents the world has known, our Constitution.

Not that I'm comparing Donald Trump to Madison, but I believe that Mr. Trump and his party have at least voiced support for the principles of limited government and balance of power by their support of conservative, constitutionally minded judges, limited federal powers and states' rights.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, as secretary of state, and the administration that she has worked for, have shown a complete disregard for limited powers, whether it is in the misuse of executive authority and the Clinton Foundation, disregard for American sovereignty and our southern border, reckless importation of unvetted refugees or surrender of power to the United Nations. …
