Topeka Man, 20, Jailed in Wednesday Carjacking Incident at Kwik Shop

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking incident early Wednesday outside a central Topeka convenience store and gas station.

The arrested man was identified as Andrew Igashosky Vanderblomen, 20, of Topeka.

In the incident, police said, Vanderblomen pointed a silver handgun at a man as he was fueling his car at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday at the Kwik Shop, 1700 S.W. Topeka Blvd. The gunman then took the car and drove east from the Kwik Shop on S.W. 17th.

Police located the car about 15 minutes later near S.E. 2nd and Rice Road and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

Police said the driver fled from police and headed west on S.E. 2nd, crashing the car down an embankment leading to the Shunganunga Creek near S. …
