Trump Names Brownback to Catholic Advisory Group

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Thursday named Gov. Sam Brownback to his Catholic advisory group.

Brownback, along with 34 others, will serve on the panel, which will "provide advisory support to Mr. Trump on those issues and policies important to Catholics and other people of faith in America," the campaign said in a statement.

Trump has previously named Brownback to his agricultural advisory committee, along with U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts.

The Trump campaign on Thursday also released a list of issues it says are important to Catholics, including religious liberty, prohibiting taxpayer funding of abortion, judicial nominations, education, jobs and taxes and safety and security.

"The formation of this group represents Donald J. Trump's endorsement of a range of issues and policies important to Catholics and other Christians, and his desire to have access to the wise counsel of such leaders," the Trump campaign said. …
