KEVIN de Bruyne is targeting a return to action for the Champions League crunch against Barcelona next month.

The City midfielder picked up a hamstring strain in the 3-1 win at Swansea, and reports from Belgium suggest he will be out for around four weeks.

That means De Bruyne will miss tomorrow's European trip to Celtic and the clash of the Premier League's top two at Tottenham.

The Belgian FA are already resigned to losing him for their World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Gibraltar next week, and City's home game with Everton on October 15 may come just too soon.

But De Bruyne has a fighting chance of making the Barcelona game - just as Lionel Messi is aiming to make his comeback from a groin injury in the same fixture.

Ironically, the Belgian reports suggest that De Bruyne was due to travel to Barcelona for a second scan and specialist treatment. …
