Edith Hind Reed passed away September 16, 2016 in Sarasota, FL. She was born April 26, 1915 in San Francisco, CA to Robert Renton and Elinor Jones Hind. Edith was raised in Hawi, HI and attended school in Switzerland and Germany before returning to the United States. She received her Bachelor's Degree in 1936 from Stanford University and was Vice President of her senior class. Edith then went on to received her Master's Degree in Journalism from Columbia University in 1937. In 1936 Henry Luce bought "Life" magazine. In 1937, Edith was hired to help transform "Life" into a photojournalism magazine. In 1940, she was the only woman assigned to cover the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, as well as the Philadelphia Republican National Convention for Time/Life. …
