Shocka-Con, Charleston's own horror and science fiction convention, returns for its fifth installment this weekend at the Beni Kedem Shrine Center in Charleston with big-name guests, more entertainment and plenty of workshops, events and vendors for pop culture fans. The convention opens at 4 p.m. Friday. At 6 p.m., Shocka-Con hosts a "Women in Horror panel, featuring actresses Camille Keaton ("I Spit On Your Grave) and Geretta Geretta ("Rats: Night of Terror).

Entertainment Friday will be provided by Bint Il Nahar Bellydance, the Charlie Anteater Band, the Weird Paul Petrosky Band and Orville Rex.

Shocka-Con resumes Saturday, starting with a costume parade at noon. The afternoon will include a variety of panels, a scream contest, an acting class on dying and an embalming demonstration. …
