Pascack Valley Board Replaces Veteran Trustee

HILLSDALE -- The Pascack Valley Regional High School Board of Education recently appointed Kenneth Ralph of Hillsdale to fill a seat on the board that was vacated by a longtime member.

Ralph, who will serve until December 2017, replaces Alfred Murphy, 84, who was a fixture in Hillsdale's local government for more than three decades. Murphy resigned from the board in July, citing health issues.

"I'm very familiar with the entire school system, and I've been active in the community for many years," Ralph said Wednesday. "So I saw this as a way to give back to my community. I know I was appointed to replace Alfred Murphy, and he was a real institution in Hillsdale, so I know there are some big shoes for me to step into."

Ralph, who worked in the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office for 25 years, has had two children graduate from Pascack Valley High School and one daughter is in her junior year at the school, which serves students from Hillsdale and River Vale. …
