MATTHEW Kelly is looking forward to returning to his roots to perform in Pride and Prejudice at the Lowry Theatre - because he believes there is nowhere else quite like Manchester.

The Urmston-raised Olivieraward winning actor and TV presenter is expecting a large family group in the audience when the adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel comes to the Lowry.

And he is delighted to be working again on this show with the former soundman from Stars In Their Eyes - one of the biggest Saturday night entertainment shows of the 90s and noughties filmed at Manchester's Granada Studios.

He said: "My connection with Manchester is cousins, and I used to have lovely neighbours.

"It's always lovely to come back.

"People are so supportive of their own in Manchester and I think people from Manchester have the same wavelength. …
