Man Accused in Drive-By Killing Offered Plea Deal

A Paterson man charged with murder in a fatal shooting in the crime-plagued 4th Ward has been offered a plea deal with a 30-year sentence.

Isaiah Wilson, 27, also known as "Goonie," is accused of shooting and killing 30-year-old Mark Harris Jr. of Paterson on July 14, 2013, near 12th Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard.

Authorities said Harris was killed in a drive-by shooting as he left a convenience store. They did not release further details about the shooting and did not offer a motive.

Wilson also is charged with drug dealing in an incident that took place about six weeks after Harris was killed.

Wilson, who has been indicted by a Passaic County grand jury on the murder and drug charges, entered not guilty pleas at his Monday arraignment in state Superior Court in Paterson.

Eileen Kane, a Passaic County senior assistant prosecutor, said Wilson is being offered a deal in which he would be sentenced to 30 years without parole in return for pleading guilty to a murder charge. …
