Former Graduate Assistant Football Coach Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanors

A former Washburn University graduate assistant football coach originally charged with sexually assaulting a woman pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors Tuesday in Shawnee County District Court.

Jesse Robert Bubke, 23, of Topeka, will serve 60 days in Shawnee County Jail and be placed on probation for 10 months after that, according to the plea.

Bubke said "guilty" three times to one count of battery and two counts of criminal restraint during the hearing before District Judge Richard Anderson.

As part of the plea, Anderson sentenced Bubke to six months in jail for the battery conviction and 12 months for each conviction of criminal restraint, then made the sentences concurrent.

Bubke will report to the jail to begin his sentence on Dec. 11, then will begin his probation after he is released from jail. …
