Cops Seize 1,500 Packs of Heroin, Arrest Man

PATERSON -- Authorities broke up a drug distribution operation at the Riverside public housing complex on Monday morning, seizing thousands of dollars' worth of heroin and cocaine, said Paterson's police director, Jerry Speziale.

The bust was made during a special patrol by plainclothes officers targeting problem areas for drug sales and other crimes, Speziale said.

The officers converged on the complex from different directions about 10:55 a.m. and saw a man running toward an apartment building on Alois Place, the director said.

The officers reported seeing 22-year-old Demetrey Roundtree discard an object that turned out to be a "brick of heroin," which is 50 packets wrapped together, Speziale said. They arrested him, then searched the apartment where he was apprehended, the director said. …
