Gas Prices Edge Higher with Oil

Gas prices were rising in Southwest Florida on Monday as oil prices increased after the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries said it reached a tentative agreement to cut output for the first time in eight years.

The average price for a gallon of regular in the Bradenton- Sarasota-Venice market was $2.087 on Monday, up from $2.084 the previous day and roughly flat with the average a week ago, according to AAA data.

Still affecting prices in the southeastern United States were supply disruptions related to the recent shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline.

Florida was largely unaffected by the pipeline problems because the Sunshine State brings most of its gasoline in by ship.

"Even though the Colonial Pipeline successfully restarted Line 1 more than a week ago, the effect of the disruption is still being felt in those regions and will take some time to get fully resupplied," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said. …
