Elkview, DuPont Middle Schools to Play in Marshall Indoor Complex

The Elkview and DuPont middle school football teams will make a bit of history at 2 p.m. Saturday when they play the first official football game in the two-year history of Marshall University's Cline Athletic Facility. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens, and all revenues generated from the event will benefit victims and recovery efforts from June's devastating floods.

Elkview was among the areas hit hardest by that flooding. Herbert Hoover High and Elkview Middle School students now share the Elkview Middle building after the floodwaters closed Hoover's doors for good. Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick is a Clendenin native and Herbert Hoover graduate, and when he visited the area after the floods this past summer, he offered the Elkview Middle team the opportunity to play that game in the indoor facility. …
