Carnegie Deli Will Live on in Carlstadt

Although New York's landmark Carnegie Deli is closing at the end of the year, the company's Carlstadt food-prep site will remain open.

The Carlstadt operation, which employs 35 people and has been open 19 years, bakes cheesecakes and processes deli meats. Those products will continue to be sold at the deli's licensed locations at Madison Square Garden, the Mirage casino in Las Vegas and the Sands casino in Bethlehem, Pa. In addition, the company will continue to sell cheesecakes, pastrami and corned beef online and at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens.

The Carlstadt business also distributes bakery products to hundreds of restaurants around the nation, and sells branded products including T-shirts and mugs.
