The North Allegheny School District will move ahead with renovations at the intermediate high school.

The school board Sept. 28 hired Massaro Construction Management at a cost of $182,622 to provide preconstruction, bidding and construction oversight for the project.

The project was split into three parts by the architect, but only one of those parts was funded in the district's most recent bond issue. That involves about $5.3 million in repairs, including replacing the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems; replacing sound and light controls in the auditorium and some kitchen equipment; and renovating biology classrooms that have not been updated since the building was constructed in 1954.

Another part of the project is renovating the auditorium, including replacing the seats, at a cost of $910,494. …
