Motorist in 2015 Crash That Killed Stepbrother Arrested in Connection with Manslaughter

A 20-year-old man who was the driver of a car that crashed near Auburn last year, killing his stepbrother and injuring another driver, was booked into jail Thursday in connection with involuntary manslaughter.

The man, Andrew Wayne Slack, was booked into the Shawnee County Jail, where he remained Friday night on a $15,000 cash or surety bond, according to jail records.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the February 2015 collision at S.W. 61st and Auburn Road was the incident for which Slack was arrested.

Slack's stepbrother, 17-year-old Trenton A. Brooks, was a senior at Washburn Rural High School when he died.

A spokesman for Auburn-Washburn Unified School District 437 said Brooks was thought to have been on his way home after school at the time of the crash. …
