Mum Hunts Down Thief to Get Her Bike Back

A MUM has told how she tracked down the thief who stole and dismantled her mountain bike - and then made him apologise and fix it.

Sara Lockett's Muddy Fox bike was snatched from outside a convenience store in Wythenshawe while she was inside buying a can of cola.

"I came out and it was gone," said Sara, who had bought the nearly-new bike for Pounds 179.

A week later she saw the frame of her bike, abandoned down an alleyway close to her home on Beagle Walk in Woodhouse Park. The rest of her bike was nowhere to be seen.

It was then she received a 'tip-off' and tracked down the thief, a boy of 17, at a house on the estate.

"I walked up to him and he said 'I'm sorry'. He's a cocky lad of 17. He'll probably do it again but I hope not. I hope he learns from this," said Sara, a mother of one. …
