Bomb 'Threat' Clears Mall in Wayne

WAYNE -- The Willowbrook Mall was evacuated Monday evening after an "emotional" customer approached security staff claiming to have found a note in the outer food courts containing a bomb threat, according to township police.

Police Chief James Clark said police "were never able to verify" the existence of the note and had taken the customer into custody for evaluation.

Clark said the public was in no danger and that the police response and sweep of the mall was "totally precaution-ary."

Meanwhile, about 75 evacuees were standing in a grassy area adjacent to the parking lot near Macy's Furniture Gallery across from the main Macy's store. They said they had been told to wait there until authorities determined that there was no danger. …
