Burlgary Suspect Found in Lodi Bedroom Closet, Police Say

An open front window with its screen removed, smudges on the windowsill and a bicycle in the shrubbery in front of a house on Grove Street: To Lodi police, it sure looked like a burglary in progress, but where was the burglar?

Police said they got a phone call shortly before noon on Tuesday about a suspicious-looking man ringing doorbells at neighborhood homes and trying to get in through front doors.

The caller was able to provide a detailed description of the man, so when police arrived at the home with the missing screen they had a good idea of who they were looking for, if not his actual identity.

Sgt. Frank Debartola and Officers Ana Martinez, Andelson Mindest, Ahmet Kulaksiz, Richard Cordero and Derek Morrison were able to make contact with the son of the homeowner and get the code to the electric garage door opener to get into the attached home, police said. …
