UNITED and Liverpool have issued a joint statement vowing to eject supporters if they air discriminatory chants during Monday night's Premier League fixture.

Liverpool and United's clash is the first nocturnal league game between the sides in over 12 years and 2,593 United supporters will be in the Anfield Road End.

Matches between the clubs generate a febrile atmosphere and have featured unsavoury chants mocking the Munich and Hillsborough disasters, while fighting broke out during the Europa League second leg at Old Trafford in March.

The clubs' statement reads: "Both clubs, their supporters and football fans around the world are looking forward to this historic and passionate match between two of the sport's biggest and oldest rivals. There is great rivalry between our fans and we ask all supporters to be respectful and help eradicate all forms of offensive and discriminatory behaviour from the game. …
