Nhl Trophies to Go on Display Downtown Public Can View before Pens' Opener

A collection of NHL trophies - including the Stanley Cup - will be on public display Downtown from noon to 5 p.m. today before the Pittsburgh Penguins' home opener this evening at PPG Paints Arena.

The display at the City-County Building portico on Grant Street will include the Prince of Wales, Conn Smythe and General Manager of the Year trophies, according to a joint announcement Wednesday from Mayor Bill Peduto and the Penguins.

Fans can line up beginning at 9 a.m. to take their own photos with the trophies, Mr. Peduto's office said. A photographer will not be provided.

"This is the perfect way to cap off the 'Summer with Stanley' and celebrate the Penguins as they begin the 2016-17 NHL season," Mr. Peduto said in a statement. Team CEO David Morehouse thanked the mayor and his staff "for giving fans the chance to see the Stanley Cup" at city hall. …
