Waldwick Man Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Girl

A 55-year-old Waldwick man has been convicted of inappropriate sexual behavior toward three young girls -- including sexually assaulting one of them -- after befriending their parents at the church he attended, authorities said Thursday.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said Raelito Palao convicted by a jury on Tuesday in the case involving three girls between the ages of 11 and 14.

Palao was convicted of one count of sexual assault, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of criminal sexual contact.

When Palao is sentenced on Jan. 20, he could receive terms of up to 10 years for the sexual assault count, five years for each of the endangering counts and 18 months for the criminal sexual contact count.

In addition, the convictions require mandatory Megan's Law registration and parole supervision for life after he is released from state prison. …
