City Picks Its New Finance Director

SARASOTA

SARASOTA -- Kelly Strickland has been named the City of Sarasota's new finance director, becoming the first woman to hold the position, the city announced Thursday.

Strickland has served as the deputy finance director since 2009 and will replace John Lege, who was recently promoted to a newly created assistant city manager position, according to a news release.

"The Financial Administration Department has significant responsibilities from preparing a complex $200 million annual budget to the management and oversight of city investments to employee payroll and procurements," said Lege, who oversees the Financial Administration Department in his new role. "With Kelly at the helm, there will be leadership and continuity."

Before joining Sarasota, Strickland served as the interim finance director of the Martin County School Board and assistant finance director for the Alachua County Clerk of Courts, according to the news release. …
