Jury Rejects Murder Charge against St. Louis Man Who Shot Another 12 Times

ST. LOUIS * A man who killed another with 12 shots in a Mount Pleasant neighborhood apartment was acquitted of a murder charge Friday on a claim of self-defense.

After a four-day trial, St. Louis Circuit Court jurors found Pierre L. Davis, 37, not guilty of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Feb. 14, 2014, shooting death of Antoine Farrell.

That Davis killed Farrell by shooting him a dozen times was not disputed.

Davis shot Farrell, 40, about 12:15 a.m. with a .40-caliber handgun as Farrell sat on a couch smoking a cigarette, authorities said. It happened after a night of partying at Davis' apartment in the 4300 block of Minnesota Avenue.

Davis became angry and ordered Farrell to leave, authorities said.

The defense attorney, Rick Kroeger, told the court that Davis fired after feeling threatened when Farrell replied, "I'll leave you here," and reached for a gun.

Davis testified that Farrell had reached for a gun sitting on the couch. But a man with them that night testified that Farrell did not. …
