Eagle Scout Ceremony to Be Held in Topeka

A Topeka 18-year-old will be honored as an Eagle Scout at a ceremony this week.

According to a news release sent by Carol Christensen, of Topeka, Tobias Mikkelsen, son of Drake and Melissa Mikkelsen, will receive the Eagle Scout Award in a court of honor ceremony set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Topeka Stake Center of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2401 S.W. Kingsrow Ave.

Mikkelsen earned the award with an Eagle Project that deep- cleaned the Topeka Ronald McDonald House, 825 S.W. Buchanan St., with help from soldiers from Fort Riley.

Mikkelsen became a Cub Scout in 2006 and transitioned to Boy Scouts Troop 60 in 2009, then Venture Crew 2060 in 2012. He also was a member of Venture Crew 2429, sponsored by the Falley Scout Reservation, of Ozawkie.

Mikkelsen is a vigil-honored member of the Order of the Arrow and served as an assistant senior patrol leader, Order of the Arrow coordinator and quartermaster. …
