Topeka Metro Driver Wins Bus Rodeo

Topeka Metro driver Michelle Brown won first place Sept. 25 in a bus rodeo in Lawrence, Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority members were told Monday.

Brown was among four Topeka Metro bus operators who took part in the 2016 Kansas Rodeo & Training competition, said Topeka Metro general manager Susan Duffy.

Drivers were scored on how well they navigated through an obstacle course of orange road cones with a time limit; tested various real-life driving scenarios such as smooth parallel parking, precision backing and pre-trip inspection; and provided customer service during a wheelchair securement, the Metro indicated on its Facebook page.

Topeka Metro operators Gaylon Brown, Dustin Owens and Jeremy Holloway also took part, the page said.

This was the first year Topeka Metro employees competed at the rodeo, Duffy said. …
