Livery Driver Faces Sex Assault Charge

WYCKOFF -- A Paterson man who drives for an online car service was arrested Monday on charges that he sexually assaulted a patron near her home in Wyckoff, authorities said Tuesday.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said in a news release that a 27-year-old woman called Wyckoff police at about 2 a.m. Monday to report that she had been sexually assaulted.

Authorities said the woman told them she had contacted the car service and was assaulted in the car by the driver when the car arrived at her home.

Al-quon Hopkins, 31, was charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, Grewal said. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail.

Maureen Parenta, a spokeswoman for the Prosecutor's Office, declined to identify the car service Hopkins was employed by, but said he'd worked as a driver for "several months. …
