Fourth Arrest in Paterson Cop Shootout

PATERSON - A fourth suspect has been arrested on attempted murder and weapons charges in connection with a shooting last weekend involving an off-duty Harrison police officer, officials said Thursday.

Kenyi Cruz, 19, of Paterson was taken into custody on Wednesday, a day after the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office announced that he was wanted in the case, officials said.

Cruz is being held at the Passaic County Jail on $500,000 bail, according to Sheriff Richard Berdnik. Authorities previously arrested and filed attempted murder and weapons charges against three other people in the case - Yordy Almonte, 23, and Carmen Ortega, 21, both of Paterson; and Adonis Almonte, 21, of the Bronx. They were arrested separately on Saturday, Sunday and Monday as the investigation unfolded. …
