Three Lindenwood University Basketball Players Charged in Rape Case

ST. CHARLES * Three Lindenwood University men's basketball players have been charged in connection with a rape in September.

Ermias Tesfia Nega, 22, and Tylan Jamon Birts, 19, were charged Oct. 14 with second-degree rape, according to court documents obtained Thursday.

Bradley Newman Jr., 20, was charged with second-degree invasion of privacy. All three, listed on the roster of the Lindenwood University men's basketball team, are from out of state.

All three have been suspended from the team, according to a Lindenwood University statement released Thursday night.

Nega is from Arlington, Va.; Newman is from Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and Birts is from Homestead, Fla.

Nega is accused of having conspired to encourage Birts and Newman to have sex with the woman, knowing that she did not consent to it.
