Arson suspected in garage fires

Foul play is suspected in two overnight garage fires in west- central Topeka, authorities said.

The first blaze was reported at 2:50 a.m. Monday at 1534 S.W. Randolph, where a detached garage was on fire, causing $5,000 in damage.

Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set.

About an hour later, at 3:44 a.m., fire crews were called to another suspicious garage fire, this one at 1218 S.W. MacVicar.

It caused more than $8,500 in damage.
