CCTV Clue in Hunt for On-Run Sex Offender

A CONVICTED sex offender wanted by police has been spotted in Rochdale.

Francis Doherty, who was jailed for three years in 2005 after being convicted of two sex assaults, was pictured in Halifax Road on Monday at 10.20am.

Doherty, who uses a walking stick, is wanted for allegedly breaching the terms of his parole licence.

Police searching for the wanted man have released CCTV footage which they say shows him walking along the road.

The 63-year-old, who has links to Rawtenstall, Bacup and Haslingden, was also pictured on George Street, Oldham, at about 9.10am on Tuesday, October 18.

He was seen walking with a stick and wearing a distinctive camouflage-style hoodie.

Police had previously indicated that they believed Doherty, who is on the sex offenders register, may be in Greater Manchester.

Investigators stated that Doherty, who also goes by the name Fran, may possibly be begging or sleeping rough in the region. …
