Hayden Two-Time State Champ Brooklyn Hunter Headlines All-City Girls Tennis

Hayden sophomore Brooklyn Hunter headlines the 2016 All-City girls tennis team after capturing her second straight Class 4A state singles championship earlier this month.

Hunter was a perfect 23-0 on the season and completed a sweep of city, Centennial League, regional and state titles.

Joining Hunter on the All-City team are state placers Madeline Lysaught of Shawnee Heights and Avery Munns of Washburn Rural, who placed eighth in singles in the 5A and 6A state meets, respectively.

Washburn Rural, which swept city, league and regional team titles, put five players on the All-City team, with the doubles teams of Maddie Aarnes and Hallie Beard and Lauren Ailslieger and Cortlyn Wolfe joining Munns on the team.

Seaman is represented on the All-City team by singles player Sydnie Crow and the doubles team of Bailey Chinn and Shyanne Osterhaus.

Rounding out the All-City team is Hayden's doubles team of Sara Comstock and Katelyn Tryon, who join teammate Hunter on the team.

All-City capsules:

MADDIE AARNES, Washburn Rural -- Aarnes, a junior, teamed with Hallie Beard to claim the city title in No. 1 doubles and the two Rural teammates went on to claim Centennial League and 6A regional titles.

LAUREN AILSLIEGER, Washburn Rural -- A senior, Ailslieger teamed with Cortlyn Wolfe to win the city title in No. 2 doubles. Ailslieger and Wolfe also finished third in the Centennial League and fifth in regionals to earn a state berth.

HALLIE BEARD, Washburn Rural -- A junior, Beard teamed with Aarnes to claim the city No. 1 doubles championship. Beard and Aarnes also won Centennial League and 6A regional titles.

BAILEY CHINN, Seaman -- Chinn, a senior, teamed with Shyanne Osterhaus and finished third in the city in No. 1 doubles. Chinn and Osterhaus took second in the Centennial League and earned a state berth with a fourth-place regional finish. …
