Qp Forced to Forfeit Last 2 Games

Queen of Peace informed the NJIC on Wednesday that it will not play its final two football games because of low participation numbers and safety concerns.

The Golden Griffins (0-6) were scheduled to play Palisades Park/ Leonia on Friday before ending their season next week against Manchester.

Queen of Peace started with a small roster, but injuries suffered during the season made the situation worse.

The Golden Griffins are the third program within the past two weeks -- joining Bergen Tech and Dumont -- to forfeit a game because of a dearth of players.

Palisades Park/Leonia scheduled a game against Sussex Tech on Friday to replace Queen of Peace, and Manchester is seeking a Week 9 opponent with the help of the conference.

"While this has no bearing on the NJIC championship, it does unfortunately mean that Manchester may have one less game for their athletes," NJIC executive director Stan Fryczynski said. …
