$1,000 Reward Offered in Theft of Pumpkins

WAYNE - The owners of a local farm are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the thieves who swiped some 200 pumpkins from their patch this week.

The thieves were recorded on surveillance cameras as they arrived at the farm on Black Oak Ridge Road around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and began loading a van with the pumpkins.

Todd Kuehm, a member of the family that has owned Farms View Roadstand for more than 100 years, said the thieves returned two more times during the night, taking more than $2,000 worth of pumpkins.

"It's frustrating," Kuehm said. "This is how we make our living, and there are a lot of family members who make a living out of this farm, and we work very hard."

Capt. Mark McGrath of the Wayne police said this was the first time the department had been alerted to such a pumpkin heist in the 30 years he has been at the department.

"This is the first time I'm aware of so many pumpkins being stolen from one location,'' he said.
